Psychosomatics. The uses of Psychotherapy.
The Seminars Following the successful talk in the LCP's Audiences with Authors series, on the occasion of the publication of his book, there will be a series of 3 seminars/workshops: 29 November 2008 | Assessing patients with psychosomatic disorders for psychoanalytic psychotherapy | 31 January 2009 | Working with psychosomatic patients in psychoanalytic psychotherapy | 14 February 2009 | Psychosomatic incidents in psychoanalytic psychotherapy |
The course is designed to help psychoanalytic psychotherapists work with psychosomatic patients, and give an understanding about contemporary psychoanalytic and other psychodynamic thinking about techniques in handling this area of psychopathology. The Speaker Dr Shoenberg is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy at University College Hospital London. He is a Senior Member of the British Association of Psychotherapists. He is researching into ways of teaching medical students about the doctor/ patient relationship and has published papers on psychotherapy in psychosomatic medicine. He recently published the book Psychosomatics. The Uses of Psychotherapy. (Palgrave/Macmillan)
