LCP Qualifying Course in Psychoanalytic
Psychotherapy (including Analytical Psychology)

Applications for the course starting in October 2009 are welcome now. 

Applications are not restricted to those working in the caring professions. Selection is by interview, and candidates are selected for training on the basis of personal integrity, analysability, motivation, emotional resourcefulness, maturity and academic capacity. There are no age restrictions. Trainees are expected to have a degree or equivalent.

The application form requires details of academic qualifications, professional and personal history. References are taken up, and there are two, or occasionally three interviews. There is an administration fee of £50 (non returnable) and the fee for each interview is £60.

Applicants are expected to have had previous clinical experience or to have carried out other responsibilities for the development or welfare of individuals. They should have had a sufficient amount of experience of working in the field with other professionals before training as psychoanalytic psychotherapists. If an applicant lacks such experience, they will be required to gain it through an honorary placement during the pre-clinical phase of the training, and probably beyond. This would involve seeing at least two clients weekly under supervision in an appropriate psychotherapy clinic or department or a counselling agency.
